General Info - Canaan
There are two facilities at FCI Canaan, the Penitentiary and the Camp. The visiting process usually starts at 8:00am and continues until 3:00pm. To visit an inmate at Canaan, you have to be on their list if you are 16 years or older. One form of ID is required, for anyone on the visitors list. The accepted form of ID has to be government or state issued and cannot be expired. You can contact the institution to verify acceptable forms of ID.
You will need change for the vending machines while on the visit. No currency greater than a $5 note is allowed inside the visiting room. Your cash can be carried in a clear transparent bag or container. Necessary items for a baby can also be taken in to the visit as well. See their website for more information. Any other belonging has to be left in a locker, which is provided or can be left in your vehicle. We stay on the visit until 2:30 pm.
We travel by schedule on Saturdays or Sundays. See Schedule, under Canaan for all the 2015 dates. We travel up to three times a month. Most of the pick ups are door to door in all boroughs except Staten Island. If you reside in an area where door to door service is not provided, we will arrange a mutual pick up location. Any door to door request in New Jersey will incur an additional fee. However, door to door service in New Jersey cannot be guaranteed.

Policies - Canaan
All bookings are by reservation. Whenever you reserve a seat, we will call you the day before to confirm your reservation. If you make a reservation and have to cancel, we expect you to call and notify us. Do not wait until we call to confirm to notify us.
On the morning of the visit, we call one hour in advance to schedule the pickup time. We ask that you be ready at that time. We also call when we are close by your location so you can come outside if you are being picked up by you door.
We ask that you terminate your visit at least 15 minutes before the scheduled departure time. This will give you enough time to be escorted out of the visit room. We are not responsible if you are denied the visit. As a courtesy we will ask you if you have your ID when you board the vehicle, but you are ultimately responsible for having possession of valid ID for the visit.
We try to make your travel experience as pleasant and comfortable as we can. So if you have any concerns, request our suggestions, please let us know.
